New Sails

Kingston Sail Loft designs and builds some sails on our loft floor and also partners with an Ontario-based designer and an off-shore sail production facility for other new sails. Whether the sail is built on our floor, or in the offshore facility, we provide customers with very high quality racing or cruising sails, at attractive prices. New sails are delivered with sail numbers, national letters, Dyneema leech lines, telltales, draft stripes, sail ties, battens, and sail bag, as appropriate.

We make some sails at Kingston Sail Loft, developing designs based on the customer’s requirements and budget, source the cloth from one of four leading sail cloth manufacturers, and build and complete the sail entirely in house.

For other new sails, our sail designer uses leading edge sail design software. He has over 2000 sail designs ready to tailor to our customer’s needs and desires. These designs are extremely detailed,  He was chosen by ILCA to redesign the new class legal ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 sails.  His designs have won World Championships, and many regattas and races.

Based on those very detailed designs, these sails are assembled for us in a large, very well equipped, and well-staffed offshore facility. The combination of a very detailed design from our designer, careful cloth selection based on both cloth specifications and cloth sample testing, panel cutting and marking on the latest cutter plotter tables, careful assembly and sewing, and careful quality checks, allows us to provide very high-quality sails at affordable prices.
